Multimedia Artifact

Rubric/Worksheet: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RotqF8dnxFbv_QF4SruIAZzUriETNyP0TlDANBMp3Lc/edit?usp=sharing

Short Version of the worksheet:

  1. Select a significant purpose typical of your discipline/grade level.

My name is:  __Tiffany Gibbons

My content area/discipline is:  __Theatre Education____________

The grade level I plan to teach is:  ____Elementary Integrated Arts_

The typical educational purpose I will address is:  __Advocating for funding of Media and Theatre Arts  in the community__

My reason for choosing this purpose is:  _2020 proved to be a challenging time financially, and decisions are being made by the community and administrators of schools to establish where the funds need to be allocated. I wanted to remind the audience of the meme I created (parents and educators alike) that investing in the arts is a worthy cause.

  1. Select a tool to create the artifact.  The tool(s) I will use: __I will use Google Image to find relevant pictures, then a photo editing tool to turn the images into a meme._

  2. Create the artifact, ensuring it fulfills intended purposes.

6)  What have you done to try to evaluate sources for bias and avoid biased portrayals of diverse identities?  Why is this important? ___I have attempted to cover a wide variety of figures to edit into the image that covered media that people most likely partook in throughout quarantine in 2020. I used a musical (which was released on a children’s media platform), a musical artist (who released two albums), a TV show which earned many awards in 2020 (which I binged the entirety of), a recently popular meme (Bernie and his mittens), and a nod to the media many young people are using to create their own art (I had the pleasure of watching an entirely app-created virtual musical). Any bias I may have had while creating this is only using media figures I am personally familiar with. I appealed to things that hopefully helped many people during 2020 to appeal to ethos.______
