Process Piece

I chose to record an activity that I pretty regularly participate in: Ordering a soda from Swig (or Sodalicious when I have the time when I have time to go more out of my way). I chose this process first and foremost for the fact it will make people laugh: I enjoy bringing smiles and being a cliche of myself. Below the surface however, there is a much more personal reason for my frequent visits for Dr Pepper. I have a chronic iron deficiency which leaves me drained nearly before the day even begins. The small dose of caffeine is what I have had to resort to to keep my academic scholarship, helping me stay awake in classes. I am additionally drawn to this idea because I was told on a date very recently that my iron deficiency makes me undateable. Joy. Caffeine is a blessing and a curse, a constant in my life that I can use to treat myself when the go-in gets tough.

The text being used in this piece is the {not rehearsed, but very familiar} script of my regular order. This one in particular was a little different than normal since I was with my sister, but the process is the same nonetheless. The process is represented by the dialogue: a greeting, an order, a departure/thank you. I am still a little confused about the idea of literacy, especially as it applies to this non-art work of art.

  1. Hey Tiffany! That was such a fun idea! I have noticed that you have a swig cup with you in the morning, so this piece definitely makes sense. I love that you chose to capture a process that you do on a daily basis.
